Team Evergreen

Evergreen offers a team of GPs, all with extensive NHS experience, bringing a variety of additional skills across women's health and menopause care, men’s health, lifestyle medicine, minor surgery, skin health, and aesthetics to name a few. Aesthetic medicine at Evergreen is a continuation of Natural Aesthetics Edinburgh, established in 2023

Working alongside experienced nurses and allied professionals under one roof, we have chosen the team for their clinical judgement, exacting standards and excellent bedside manner.

As a team we:
Listen first, then plan collaboratively.
Communicate clearly with no jargon, no pressure.
Review outcomes and refine your plan over time.

Dr Rachel Weir

Dr Rachel Weir

Joint Founder
GP & Medical Aesthetics Practitioner

MBChB (2007) MRCGP (2017) DSRH

“What feels like many moons ago, I began my medical journey at the University of Edinburgh, graduating as a doctor in 2007. My early years in medicine took me across different parts of the UK and even as far as Perth, Australia, before I returned home to settle into married life with my husband, Simon, and complete my GP training in the Severn Deanery, Gloucestershire. In 2016, the pull of Edinburgh proved too strong to resist, and we returned with our young family. This city is like no other and I simply love its people, its energy, its sense of community.”

“Being a GP is a role I feel incredibly fortunate to have. For me, it is about far more than treating illness; it’s about supporting people with their health, wellbeing, and confidence throughout life’s journey. That same ethos underpins my medical aesthetics work. I am continually developing my skills taking my training to the highest level. My approach is natural, gentle, and considered. I work slowly and thoughtfully, always aiming for results that feel authentic and true to each individual.”

“Outside of the clinic, life is joyfully full (sometimes to bursting!) with our two children, Harris and Thea, and our very chatty cocker spaniel, Albie. I also have a lifelong love of painting, particularly Scottish landscapes, which I share through Rachel Weir Art. It’s a creative outlet that brings me balance and inspiration.”

“At Evergreen, my goal is simple: to create a warm, welcoming space where you feel listened to, cared for, and supported - whether you visit us for your health, your confidence, or both.”

Dr Simon Smail

Dr Simon Smail

Joint Founder
GP with a special interest in Occupational Medicine and Minor Surgery

BSc(Hons) MBChB (2005) MSc(Distinction) DRCOG DGM DOccMed PG Cert Medical Education MRCGP

“I’m a GP and GP trainer from Aberdeen originally, but trained in Edinburgh and have been practicing here for 10 years now, having spent some time in England after I qualified as a GP. As a trainee I loved lots of medical specialities and so general practice was an obvious choice where I get to work in many areas of medicine. In a single morning, I might admit an acutely unwell patient to hospital, map out long-term preventative health strategies with the next patient, then perform a minor procedure to fix an ingrowing toenail, all before coffee.”

“At Evergreen I hope to bring my experience in an unhurried, evidence-based and personal way to help patients navigate the complexities of modern medicine. We hope it will be a place people enjoy coming to as patients and staff, and a place not just for when you are unwell but to be well and get help staying well.”

“Outside clinic you’ll usually find me watching rugby or helping coach my son’s P7 rugby team (Go Warriors!) or trying to persuade our lazy cocker spaniel to go for a walk.”

Her focus has always been on individualised care. She believes that taking the time to listen, understand and support patients not only improves health outcomes, but also helps people feel confident and at ease throughout their care.
Jennifer is delighted to be working as a practice nurse at Evergreen, where she can build ongoing relationships with patients and make a meaningful difference to their health and wellbeing.

Rhona

Front of House

As one of the first people patients meet when visiting the clinic, she enjoys creating a warm, welcoming and professional experience for everyone who comes through the door.

With experience across healthcare, higher education and professional services, she understands how important it is to help people feel comfortable, valued and at ease from the moment they arrive.

Calm, organised and approachable, she helps ensure appointments run smoothly while providing a friendly and reassuring presence, particularly for patients who may be feeling anxious or nervous.

Building positive relationships with patients and colleagues is one of the things she enjoys most about her role. She believes that kindness, attention to detail and genuine care can make all the difference and takes pride in helping every patient have a positive experience throughout their visit.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, keeping active with family cycles, travelling, and attending gigs and music festivals. She loves exploring new places and making the most of her time outside of work with the people closest to her.

Maggie

Front of House

Maggie is part of the Front of House team at Evergreen, helping to create a warm and welcoming experience for patients from the moment they arrive at the clinic.

After studying Economics, Maggie moved to Hong Kong, where she spent several years teaching English. She is now completing her medical degree at the University of St Andrews alongside her role at Evergreen.

Her favourite part of the job is meeting patients, listening to their stories and getting to know the people who visit the clinic. Her interest in people is a big part of what inspired her to pursue a career in medicine, and she is passionate about making every patient feel as comfortable and at ease as possible.

Outside of Evergreen and her studies, Maggie enjoys discovering new food and drink spots around Edinburgh with friends and spending time with her two Goldendoodles.

Maja

Skin Therapist

With almost a decade of experience in the beauty industry, she has worked across a range of spas and clinics throughout Edinburgh. More recently, she has taken a slightly different direction in her career and is currently studying Paediatric Nursing while continuing to work within the beauty industry.

At Evergreen, she supports the Front of House team while also working as an Aesthetic Practitioner, specialising in treatments including Microneedling and HydraFacial. She particularly enjoys helping clients feel confident, refreshed and comfortable in their own skin, while creating a relaxing and personalised experience for each person.

Evergreen gives her the opportunity to continue developing her skills and gaining valuable experience across both of her career paths. She enjoys being part of a team where she can combine her passion for skincare and aesthetics with the skills and knowledge she is developing as a student nurse.

Building positive relationships with patients and colleagues is one of the things she enjoys most about her role. She believes that kindness, attention to detail and genuine care can make all the difference and takes pride in helping every patient have a positive experience throughout their visit.

Maggie

Aesthetics Nurse Practitioner

Kirsty is an Aesthetics Nurse Practitioner, Independent Prescriber and Nurse Specialist, with 17 years of nursing experience within the NHS.

Her approach to aesthetics is centred around natural, individualised results. She believes aesthetic treatments should enhance a person’s natural features rather than change who they are, combining her medical expertise, nursing experience and specialist aesthetic training to provide safe, evidence-based and patient-centred care.

For Kirsty, it’s about much more than the treatment itself. She wants every patient to feel listened to, comfortable and confident in a warm and caring environment. Her aim is to help patients feel like the best version of themselves, while still looking completely like themselves.

Outside of work, Kirsty is a married mum to two children and has a much-loved Cavapoo. She enjoys spending time with family and friends and is a big believer in finding a healthy work-life balance.

When she’s not working, Kirsty enjoys strength training, running, taking part in hybrid events and skiing — particularly anything that keeps her active and challenges her.

Kirsty is passionate about aesthetics and patient care, and is committed to delivering treatments with care, honesty and natural results at the heart of everything she does.

Laura

Practice Nurse

NMC-registered Adult Nurse

With over 24 years’ experience as an NMC-registered Adult Nurse, Laura has worked across NHS and private healthcare in the UK and overseas, gaining experience in general nursing, occupational health, community and private GP settings.

For the past decade, Laura has worked in primary care, initially specialising in travel health before developing her role as a Practice Nurse. Having lived and worked abroad, she developed a particular passion for travel medicine, an ever-evolving area of healthcare that she continues to enjoy learning about.

Laura’s approach is friendly, compassionate and centred around clear communication. She aims to create a relaxed environment where patients feel comfortable, informed and confident in their care, while providing high-quality, personalised healthcare.

Outside of work, Laura has a particular interest in tea ceremony, meditation and the practice of Cha Dao, alongside cycling, yoga, weights and writing. She also enjoys weekend adventures and believes in finding balance and making time for what supports both physical and mental wellbeing.

Laura feels incredibly lucky to have been part of Evergreen’s journey from the beginning. For her, the welcoming environment, dedicated team and shared vision for health and wellbeing make Evergreen a very special place to care for patients.
